World Franchise council is an amicable and non political association of National Franchise Associations under the support of the International Franchise Association (IFA) and supported by the European Franchise Federation. WFC is registered as a non profit organization under UK law. Full membership of WFC is open to all National Franchise Associations whose Constitution requires a subscribing membership and a governing body which is in the majority composed of franchising companies.
Only one National Franchise Association is recognized by WFC for each country and from India, FAI is the only association which is member of WFC from last 10 years and therefore FAI is also connected to 41 other member associations of WFC. |

| Objectives:- |
- To provide a forum within which each properly constituted National Franchise Association in the world can take an equal seat in the confidence that its views and sovereignty will be respected and in the expectation that their common interests and needs will be supported internationally.
- To determine those aspects of information on, and experience of, franchising which can be usefully shared internationally and to provide mechanisms for the efficient communication of that ‘know-how’.
- To represent international information on franchising and the common views of National Franchise Associations to international bodies.
- To encourage the developments of properly constituted National Franchise Associations in all countries of the world, as recognized by United Nations.

| Membership of the WFC:- |
|
(1) Full Membership of the WFC is be open to all National Franchise Associations which are constituted as not for profit organizations and whose constitution requires, and which in practice have:
- A subscribing membership which is in the majority composed of franchising companies or their representatives;
- A governing body which is in the majority composed of franchising companies or their representatives.
- A Code of Ethics, which franchising members must comply with and which is consistent with the Code of Ethics, promulgated by the International Franchise Association or the European Franchise Federation or such other equivalent Code.
(2) No member can object to or block the application of another member on political or Government grounds.
- The first Full Members of the World Franchise Council are those national franchise associations set out in the schedule to this constitution and which form a part of it.

WFC History and Profile |

The World Franchise Council is an amicable, non-political association of National Franchise Associations around the world. It was formed in 1994 with the following founding members.
Argentine, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, U.S.A. and the European Franchise Federation.
The objectives of the World Franchise Council are to inform each other of developments and to represent international franchising towards international bodies.
Full membership of WFC is open to all National Franchise Associations whose Constitution requires a subscribing membership and a governing body which is in the majority composed of franchising companies. The admission criteria is listed below. For each country, only one national franchise association will be recognized by the WFC with the exception of Hong Kong. Meetings are held twice per year. In the year 2000, they were held in the U.S.A. in February, in Australia in October. In 2001 WFC met in France in March and the Philippines in October. The first meeting in 2002 will be in South Africa in May.
The secretariat moves from country to country with France being the current holder. Previous holders have been Brazil, Germany, and Australia. |
